LABORATORY OF THE THERMAL TECHNOLOGY OF BUILDINGS

 

The laboratory is fitted with unique equipment of large climate chamber, which enables modeling synergistic phenomena of heat transfer, water vapour diffusion and air filtration under steady
or non-steady boundary conditions.

Collaboration areas:

- determination of the surface coefficient of the heat transfer of external walls of buildings, and sloping or flat roofs,

- experimental testing of structures with multi-dimensional heat flux (thermal bridges),

- determination of the surface coefficient of the heat transfer of glass systems for transparent structures of buildings (windows, glazing walls, etc.)

- determination of the surface coefficient of the heat transfer of transparent structures of new or reconstructed windows,

- determination of the thermal conductivity coefficient of new building materials.

 

 

 

LABORATORY OF BUILDING ACOUSTICS

 


Two acoustical rooms for research on the sound insulation properties of dividing structures are installed in the laboratory. They enable the laboratory measurement of the airborne sound insulation of vertical dividing structures (partitions, windows, doors, external walls) and the laboratory measurement of the impact sound insulation of horizontal dividing structures (ceilings, floors, roofs) as well.  

Collaboration areas:

- determination of the weighted sound reduction index of opaque and transparent parts of envelopes or dividing structures of buildings,

- determination of the weighted sound reduction index of glass systems for transparent structures of buildings (windows, glass walls, etc.),

- determination of the impact sound insulation of horizontal dividing structures of ceilings and floors.

LABORATORY OF THE AERODYNAMICS OF BUILDINGS


The laboratory is equipped with two small pressure chambers for research on air filtration by sealing profiles depending on the conditions of their compression and under the boundary conditions of the difference in total pressure of air from differences in temperatures and from the effect of wind. There is also a large pressure chamber for research of air infiltration through details (joints between panels of external walls) or by transparent elements (windows, glass walls, etc.) of building envelopes.

Collaboration areas:

- determination of the physical and technical characteristics of sealing materials from air impermeability point of view, at sealing profiles also under the conditions of various compression,

- determination of air permeability coefficients (referring to the volume) of new building materials,

- experimental testing of joints between panels of external walls from the point of view of air infiltration.
