An introduction to studies for first-year students that will help you find your way around the faculty, meet your classmates and start the semester without stress.
The 2026/27 academic year at the Faculty of Civil Engineering STU will begin for new students with a two-day event called “SvF Start”, intended for all first-year students beginning their studies. Its aim is to help students get oriented in the university environment, get to know the faculty, their classmates, departments and the practical things they will need from the very first days of the semester.

Wednesday, 9 September 2026
2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., lecture hall B101, Aula akademika Bellu
Welcome and short practical lectures from students for students. First-year students will learn how the university and the faculty work, where to find important information, what to pay attention to at the beginning of their studies and what can help them manage their first weeks at SvF.
4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., atrium on the SvF premises
The programme will continue in a more informal atmosphere outdoors at the faculty. There will be a barbecue, conversations and space to get to know classmates, older students and people from the faculty.
The afternoon will also include a departmental programme – guided tours around the faculty, visits to selected spaces and laboratories, demonstrations, activities and a practical introduction to what students will focus on during their studies.
Thursday, 10 September 2026
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., lecture hall B101, Aula akademika Bellu
Students will receive practical information about their studies from the Study Department through a series of lectures and workshops on how to manage studying at the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
1:00 p.m. – meeting point in front of the main entrance in Block B, SvF
Joint departure from the faculty building to the location where the outdoor programme will continue. The exact location will be specified later.
2:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., sports and recreation area
A fun sports programme full of games and outdoor activities.
The “SvF Start” event is the first opportunity to get to know the faculty not only as a place of study, but above all as a community of people with whom you will spend your time and the coming years. It will also help you gain a clearer idea of what awaits you at the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
