Research focus
The main activity is focused on the development of new materials and building composites. Furthermore, there are areas that are a priority from a societal perspective, in particular the use of industrial waste as secondary raw materials, optimization of materials based on renewable raw materials, reduction of energy intensity, environmental issues and durability of building materials. Another area of research is clays and clay minerals, geopolymers and their various modifications. A specific area is composite systems incorporating phase change materials.
The development of composite materials is closely related to the design of recipes and subsequent preparation with the aim of investigating their material properties. For this purpose, climatic chambers, automatic freeze-drying cycles, laboratory drying ovens, standard mixers, vibrating tables, muffle furnaces and others are used.
