Research focus
- Research in the field of diagnostics and durability deals with the collection of data from existing bridges, buildings and engineering structures, inspections of structural details and defects that cause excessive degradation of structural materials in an effort to improve the management, maintenance and prioritisation of their repairs.
 - The field of research also includes refining estimates of the residual durability of concrete structures by innovating and developing new technologies in the field of transport mechanisms for the penetration of aggressive substances through concrete to the surface of reinforcement.

Assessment of existing structures:
- calculation of the load-bearing capacity of buildings, bridges and civil engineering structures based on the results of diagnostics,
 - specifying the residual load capacity of the structural elements of bridges obtained after their demolition by testing in the Central Laboratories of STU,
 - determining the causes of damage and failures of load-bearing structures.
