VISIT FROM THE HONG KONG CITY UNIVERSITY
|
On April 25, 2017, we welcomed Professor Kwok L. Tsui and Associate Professor Kwai-Sang Chin from City University of Hong Kong to our Faculty of Civil Engineering at STU. Based on their request for potential cooperation with the Department of Systems Engineering and Management, Center for Information Systems Engineering at this university (ranked 55th in the world), they approached the Department of Transportation Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of STU. The distinguished visitors were welcomed at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of STU by its dean, Prof. Unčík, and vice-dean, Prof. Benko. The aim of the meeting was to create the possibility of adequate mutual cooperation through new projects in the field of transport engineering with a view to a prospective exchange of students, doctoral students, and possibly also faculty teachers. The result will be an agreement on the creation of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two faculties, which will serve as a basis for the preparation of projects and possible exchange internships. Both colleagues gave a professional lecture to our first- and second-year NKS engineering students. The lecture focused on the results of the high-speed railway project, specifically the issue of modeling dynamic platform and public space services at railway stations. Let's not forget that more than 1.5-2 million people pass through some of these stations every day. We want to believe that it will not remain just words and a visit. |
